dntel, postal service, and..?

so as far as i understand it, dntel + death cab's lead singer (more or less) = postal service.

anyone got other like-minded recommendations?

lemon jelly is kind of a league to the left and back four steps, but they're equally rockin' and i know a lot of folks who love both.

But make sure you get the newest Notwist. Their earlier stuff isn't quite the same as their new stuff. Check out their CD Neon Golden.

The Notwist are an amazing band. I haven't heard anything other than Neon Golden and was wondering what the deal is with their first NINE albums...I know they are probably import only here in the states so if anyone has any input on which I need to own, it would be greatly appreciated. And Broken Social Scene are on the top of my dynamic list of bands to check out. This confirms it.

I bought a bunch of their CDs one night but their out in my car and I should be in bed, so I can't review them all right now ;-)

Shrink sounds similar to Neon Golden. There earlier stuff is punk/metal but with the lead singer still singing like he does on Neon Golden :-)

Be careful on Amazon because an album like 12 is listed as 2003 but it's really re-issue of a 1995 album.

To be honest, I hadn't really listened to dntel or Death Cab prior to hearing Postal Service. Someone suggested them to me because I love The Flaming Lips. They started as a psychedelic rock band and have evolved by adding a lot of electronic elements. Can't really say they're that much like Postal Service, but both are great! Check out the lips' "Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots". You won't regret it.
